In September of 2003, each district in Schuylkill County was given a set of videotapes that provide information necessary for parents and families whose dominant language is not English to work as partners with school personnel. The videotapes feature IU 29 interpreters detailing important information about the day-to-day happenings in our schools.

Topics included in the videotapes and on the accompanying written script are:

Conclusion

District personnel are free to reproduce both the videotapes and written materials as needed. A master copy of the videotapes is available at IU 29. Contact either Ed Lehr or Doreen Milot.

The languages currently available are Chinese, English, German, Korean, Russian, and Spanish.

Also available upon request are translated audiocassette tapes. These would be useful for families that do not have access to a VCR at home and are not available to watch the video at the school.
