GED Testing: Just the
Facts!

The GED tests knowledge in
the following areas: Math, Writing, Science, Social Studies,
and Reading.

The GED test is given over
two consecutive evenings for a total of eight hours.
|
 |
The fee for taking the exam
is $60.00.
|
 |
A person can re-test each
section of the GED exam up to three times in one calendar
year at a cost of $12.00/section.
|
 |
GED orientation class and a
“letter of eligibility to test” are required before
pre-registering to take the GED exam.
|
 |
Pre-registration is
required to take the GED exam.
|
Who’s Eligible for Testing?
 |
Anyone not enrolled in a
secondary school.
|
 |
Anyone who has attended GED
classes AND has received a “letter of eligibility to test”
from the GED instructor.

 |
Individuals 16 and 17 years
of age who bring a letter at the time of testing from:

An employer who
requires a high school equivalency to qualify for a job.

 |
A recruiting officer of the
armed forces who requires inductees to have a high school
equivalency
|
 |
An official of a college,
technical trade school or university who requires a high
school diploma or GED for enrollment.
|
 |
The director of a state
institution for residents, patients, or inmates who must
earn a GED before their anticipated release or discharge
from the institution.
