Bring Meriwether Lewis into your class to share his experience about   America’s first and perhaps greatest exploration.  Allow students the opportunity to ask about traveling up the untamed Missouri River and across the Rocky Mountains over the Lolo Trail.  What role did Philadelphia, Lancaster, and Pittsburgh play in the expedition?  What experiences excited Meriwether Lewis most?  Why did Jefferson pick the moody, intellectual Lewis to lead the expedition?
