Videoconference Workshops
brought to you by Schuylkill Career Link Center
Students must be prepared to enter the world
of work. Not only do students need job skills and educational aptitudes for
their chosen occupation, but knowing how to interview, prepare a resume, and
understand how to succeed and lead on the job are just a few job acquiring and
sustaining skills necessary no matter what the occupation.
The Schuylkill Career Link Center will offer
by appointment, videoconference workshops on the following topics:

Job Search: How to use the Career Link Website to Your
Advantage. This session will teach you how to access the Team
Pennsylvania Career Link website. Instruction includes: how to
enroll; completing a resume; searching for jobs; and, how to access
your personal folder. |

Guest Speakers: Individuals from business/industry speak to
your students about their specific job duties. For example: If
each school district has a group of students interested in
electronics, we will have a session with an individual who works in
this field to discuss his/her job and answer any questions the
students may have. |

Basic Communication: Verbal, non-verbal, and written
communication. How to communicate well with other students, your
teachers and your co-workers. |
|
Teamwork: Teamwork exercises that focus on working with
others in order to reach a common goal. |
|
Making A First Impression: Focuses on appearance, speech and
hygiene issues. |
|
Motivation and Initiative: Discusses goal setting and
motivation for not only work but also everyday life. |
|
Leadership/Diversity: How to handle being a leader.
Discussion on diversity and accepting of other despite race or age.
|
|
Resourcefulness & Networking: Where do you find employment?
Housing needs? Child Care? This session focuses on being
resourceful and using neighbors, friends, or even the phonebook as a
means of finding help with whatever it is you may need. |

Personal Relations: Getting along with others including
co-workers, supervisors, teachers and friends. |
|
Self-Esteem: Identifies how a person feels about himself or
herself. Includes exercises in building self-esteem. Also,
discussion on how things we say to others can have a negative effect
on them. |
|
Interviewing Skills: Topics include: appearance, resume, and
application completion. A mock interview will be shown in which
students get to see a “good” interview compared to a “bad”
interview. |

Career & Goal Planning: What direction do you want your life
to go? This session explores where you want to go in your career,
your community and your life. |
