School Employees
The
Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 (IU29) has been selected by
the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) as the
regional provider of FBI background clearance digital
fingerprinting.
Pennsylvania law now mandates that all prospective employees
of public and private schools, intermediate units and area
vocational-technical schools who have direct contact with
children provide proof of their Pennsylvania Criminal
History Background Check and Federal Criminal History Record
(fingerprint clearance) that cannot be more than one year
old. The requirement applies only to employees
who are hired on or after April 1, 2007.
Independent contractors and their employees, such as bus
drivers and aides, who have direct contact with children,
must also comply with the requirement.
