The Cosmetology program teaches the student
professional ethics, visual poise, personality development, state law,
anatomy and physiology of cells/tissues/organs/and systems, disorders of
the scalp/skin/hair/and nails, manicuring, chemistry, care and styling
of wigs, theory of massage, superfluous hair removal, introduction to
salon management with hands-on computer training, advanced styling
techniques, and make-up. Upon completion of training, graduates could
work as hairstylists, nail technicians, or make-up artists in salons; as
representatives of education for industry manufacturers; as perm or
color specialists, beauty consultants, or salon owners. FUNDAMENTALS OF HAIR STYLING I ~

This course introduces the student to the
salon environment. It covers the safety and sanitation procedures of
beauty services.
FUNDAMENTALS OF HAIR STYLING
II ~ 95hr/3cr
This section of the course will teach the
basic design principles for current hairstyling.
HAIR CUTTING I ~ 90hr/3cr
This course introduces students to the basic
principles of hair cutting.
HAIR CUTTING II ~ 90hr/3cr
This section of the course will help students
advance from the basic principles of hair cutting to the intricacies of
today’s latest styles.
SCALP AND HAIR CARE ~ 65hr/2cr
Students will acquire a thorough understanding
of both the theory and practice of all pertinent subjects dealing with
the structure of the hair and the use of styling products.
THERMAL STYLING ~ 40hr/1cr
Students will learn innovative styling
techniques for thermal waving and curling.
PERMANENT WAVING ~ 120hr/3cr
This course helps the student understand the
essential fundamentals of perming. It covers hair structure and the
chemistry of perming. Creative perming techniques are used. SKIN CARE ~ 65hr/2cr
Students will acquire a thorough understanding
of both the theory and practice of all pertinent subjects dealing with
skin care, and the application of cosmetics.
NAIL CARE ~ 120hr/3cr
Students will acquire the knowledge and proper
procedure for promoting healthy nails and cuticles.
ADVANCED NAIL CARE ~ 120hr/3cr
This course will introduce the student to the
latest techniques in nail artistry and nail applications. Artificial
nails and wrap formats, along with nail art, will be covered.
CHEMICAL HAIR RELAXING ~ 120hr/3cr
This course is designed to give students
knowledge in chemical restructuring methods.
HAIR COLORING I ~ 95hr/3cr
This course introduces the student to hair
coloring from analyzing of hair, formulating and applying color to
evaluating results.
HAIR COLORING II ~ 95hr/3cr
This section of the course is designed to
teach the student a variety of special effect color techniques.
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE ~ 40hr/1cr
Students will learn the Pennsylvania
Cosmetology laws, rules, and regulations, and prepare to sit for the
State Board examination.
