Phase
II: The Vocational Exploration Assessment Training Program (V.E.A.T.)
Provides
transition-aged students with transferable skills necessary
for competitive employment within the community. Students
receive training in the specific skill area for the job
activity selected, as well as vocational and social skills
related to the job.These activities are off-campus,
non-paid, work based experiences. Student’s train with the
assistance of a teacher’s aide and /or the worksite
supervisor. The aide’s as well as the supervisor’s
assistance fades as the student develops appropriate skills
to work independently. The work transition coordinator
regularly evaluates the student and the possibility of paid
employment can result depending on the student’s job
performance and the needs of the employer. Each student
experiences from forty (40) to two hundred (200) hours at an
assigned task.
