• Title IIA

Title II Part A is a 100% Federally funded supplemental educational program that provides financial assistance to improve the skills of teachers and the quality of instruction in core academic subjects in public and private elementary and secondary schools. The Pennsylvania Department of Education Division of Federal Programs allocates the funding to over 570 local education agencies, non-public and charter schools in the amount of $700 million. Title II Part A, combines the Eisenhower and Class-Size Reduction programs into one program that focuses on preparing, training, and recruiting and hiring highly
    qualified teachers.

Currently Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 serves as the lead consortium member and manages the funding for non-public and private schools in Berks Intermediate Unit 14, Colonial Intermediate Unit 20, Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit and Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29. Funds are specifically used to provide professional development opportunities which are selected on the basis of need through both surveys and curriculum needs. Funds also assist professionals in becoming “highly-qualified” as per NCLB and attaining PA Act 48 compliance.
