    Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 is a regional educational service agency established by the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 1971 to provide support to local school districts.

    One of twenty-nine in the state of Pennsylvania, Intermediate Units are public entities and serve a given geographic area's educational needs and function as a step of organization above that of a public school district, but below that of the Department of Education.

    IU29 coordinates services for Schuylkill County Schools with the main services including Career and Technical Education, Defined Mandated Services including Continuing Education, Curriculum Services, Instructional Materials Services, Educational Planning, Pupil Personnel Services, Special Education Supports and act as a liaison on both the State and Federal level.
