Schuylkill Learning Academy Day Treatment Program
Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 - Maple Avenue Campus
Regular education and special education students in middle school and high school ages 12-17.
The Schuylkill Learning Academy Day Treatment program is a behavioral management and counseling program. The day treatment services are provided in conjunction with alternate education. Day treatment services offer a variety of forms of treatment. Mental Health Therapists provide daily group counseling and behavioral support to students enrolled in the program. Group therapy consists of skill-building and opportunities to process personal issues. Students may receive specialized group therapy sessions for more specific issues. The Case Manager provides individual and on a consistent basis and family therapy as needed. All students enrolled in the day treatment program must have an open case with Schuylkill County Children & Youth Services as this agency funds the program. If there is not an active case, a case will be opened for the duration of the student's enrollment in the program. The case will be closed within 30 days after discharge from the day treatment program, or when Children & Youth services are no longer necessary after the student has been discharged.
All students receiving day treatment services will have a treatment plan that is developed in collaboration with the family and treatment team providers. The treatment plan will outline specific goals that the students will work on through their participation in the counseling services. The treatment plan will be updated at least every six months.
Student progress will be evaluated in terms of progress on treatment goals. In addition, students will have the opportunity to progress on a Level System. Once students have attained their treatment goals, maintained academic achievement, and reached maximum Level on the Level System, a discharge meeting will be coordinated to discuss aftercare. The Case Manager will facilitate with arranging the discharge meeting and aftercare services.
Day treatment services are offered year-round. Therefore, students who have not completed the program are expected to attend programming during the summer months.
